Our Beloved Golden Retrievers
When I worked as a nursing assistant during my teenage years, the neighborhood Golden Retrievers would make their rounds through the nursing home where I worked. I always admired their grace, temperament, and disposition. They would visit each room, offering comfort and joy to the elderly residents and healthcare staff. Their visits brought smiles to patients, comfort to grieving families, and a sense of calm to the faithful staff.
Fast forward through the years, and I am now a Hospice RN caring for the terminally ill. I have been blessed to witness the healing power that all kinds of animals bring to those at the bedside and their loved ones. These experiences have inspired me to pursue the “God dream” of raising Golden Retriever puppies.
Here at Golden Acres, we offer healthy, happy, and confident Golden Retriever puppies. We are committed to breeding for quality, not quantity. As a small breeder, we place a high priority on the excellence and integrity of our program. Our puppies come from exceptional pedigrees and champion bloodlines, supported by responsible breeding practices and a nurturing environment. We are dedicated to the attentive care of both our puppies and breeding dogs, as well as the support of our wonderful Guardian Home families.
All of our puppies are born and raised indoors, where they are monitored closely. To support their development, they enjoy time outside for exercise, potty training, and environmental enrichment once they are ready. We begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) on day three and continue until day 16, giving our puppies a strong foundation for resilience, adaptability, and confidence. After day 16, we focus on noise desensitization, socialization outings, and other structured experiences to sustain their growth and development.
In addition to researching the bloodlines we choose to breed, all of our breeding dogs receive health clearances to ensure we are producing healthy and sound puppies. Every puppy is American Kennel Club (AKC) registered and sold with limited registration (no breeding rights). We also offer a health guarantee, which can be reviewed here: Health Guarantee — Golden Acres
Our puppies are showered with love by our five children, who handle and socialize with them numerous times per day. They also enjoy outings to daycares, schools, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities to reinforce positive socialization. Weather permitting, our puppies will be introduced to the lake. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, they experience water play in the tub—followed by bath time with us, which is always a fun (and messy) adventure!
Each puppy undergoes a comprehensive examination with our veterinarian to ensure they are in excellent health before adoption day. We also begin crate training to help make the transition to your family as smooth as possible, along with introducing the early stages of potty training. Our eight weeks with your puppy are full and intentional, as we prepare them to be ready and eager to join your loving arms!
We are honored to help you find your next forever friend.
Meet our dogs
Here, you can catch a little sneak peek into our dog family! The dogs featured below are part of our family and the extended Golden Acres family community. Some of these dogs are active in our breeding program, while others will join once current breeding dogs retire.
We maintain a set number of litters per year to remain compliant with breeding regulations set by Minnesota. This allows us to stay small, provide dedicated care to each puppy, and this ensures a proper raising environment. Not all of our breeding dogs are bred annually, as we prioritize their health and our commitment to quality over quantity. Each dog brings unique characteristics that contribute to the health, beauty, and temperament of the puppies they produce.
Occasionally, we incorporate sires from other exceptional bloodlines outside our program to further enhance and improve the breed. Frito is our primary stud at this time and are loving his genetics!
