Out here at Golden Acres, everything begins with the land.

The same pastures that nourish our cattle are now part of a new chapter for our family. This 2026 season, our three boys are stepping into something of their own, raising broiler chickens and learning, day by day, what it truly means to produce nutritious food for ourselves and other families.

It starts simple. For the first few weeks, the chicks are tucked safely in a warm brooder, growing strong, feathers coming in, finding their footing. Then, as they’re ready, the doors open to the fresh pasture.

That’s when things really come alive.

Out on fresh grass, they spend their days the way chickens were meant to, scratching through the fresh dirt and soil, chasing and eating insects, pecking at seeds, and soaking up the sunshine. Each day, they’re moved to new pasture, always given a clean place to roam, which in turn contributes back to the land beneath them.

Over time, something bigger is happening. The soil grows richer. The pasture becomes more alive. And in return, these birds provide something you can taste, chicken that’s deeply nourishing, full of flavor, and raised in a way you can stand behind.
